Universal Poetry in wide Time and Wide Geography

Course Objectives:

The course will examine the evolution and examples of poetry from the earliest works of Turkish and World Literature to contemporary times. Through the selected examples, the course will explore the transformation of poetry and its universal power in reflecting its era across different periods and regions.

Course Content:

The course will begin with the Epic of Gilgamesh and proceed with the works of significant poets whose names we know. The poets will be evaluated in the context of their era and society. The course will also analyze the poets’ lives, political, social, and cultural environments, alongside literary analyses of their poems.
