Course Objectives: By the end of this course, students will be able to conduct university-level research and use writing skills and critical thought for the purpose of analyzing or documenting a topic of academic, cultural, or social importance.
Course Content: In this course, students will explore the fundamental methods of research writing and acquire the essential skills to write up and present their research. The course will provide learners with a workshop setting that will take them through the process of drafting and completing a research paper. The course will focus on the following skills:
Critical thought and creative inquiry
A process approach to writing research papers -Library skills
Using databases
Note-taking and documentation
Evaluating sources
Analyzing print and non-print research sources
Basic research methods
Distinguishing between primary and secondary research sources
