OLDIES BUT GOLDIES POPULAR CULTURE IN TURKEY DURING THE 80s, 90s and 2000s

Course Content: In this course, the students will be introduced to the most important elements of popular culture (fashion, film, music, tv, media technology) in Turkey defining the period 1980-2000. They will also learn about the most important political and historical events shaping this era, and to explore the connections between social developments and their cultural reflections. Evaluation will be based on individual and group research and presentation as well as tracing objects in today’s world with references to this period.
