Memory Studies Association Conference – Prag

11 July 2025

Core Program faculty member Dr. Deniz Gündoğan İbrişim is taking on a significant role at the 9th Annual Meeting of the Memory Studies Association, themed “Beyond Crises: Resilience and (In)stability,” to be held in Prague from July 14-18.

As a member of the program committee who contributed to the evaluation of approximately 1400 abstracts, our faculty member will be organizing a panel at the conference titled “Crises, Environments and Memories in Turkish Contexts: Shared and Divided Mnemonic Agents.”

Furthermore, within this panel featuring distinguished scholars in the field, she will also present her own paper, “Environmental Crisis, Istanbul’s Animals, and Multispecies Care: Mobilizing the 1910 Hayırsızada Dog Massacre in Contemporary Turkey.” This participation once again demonstrates our faculty member’s international impact and leadership in the field of memory studies.
